Advice Resolutions Champions Apprehension of Racist Offenders

Angela Bennett continues to be the community champion Law Consultant and takes criminal law cases and turn them over to Police Scotland. These are cases in which the criminal offender, usually male, is convicted of sexism, misogynoir, and race discrimination. Angela's client successfully gave evidence to Police Scotland to bring a prosecution against a GALASHIELS, Scottish Borders man Mr Stewart McPhee, 57, of King Street, who pleaded guilty to threatening or abusive behaviour aggravated by racial prejudice on a bus between Edinburgh and Galashiels on July 24 2021. McPhee directed racist abuse towards Angela Bennett's client who was a fellow passenger on board a bus, McPhee was heavily intoxicated and was sexually harassing her client, and had been ordered to pay a total of £335 at Selkirk Sheriff Court. How can a sexually harassing pest and racist only get fined such a peppercorn amount of money in this day and age. £335 is worth nothing to the dignity of a Black Woman.

McPhee's Defence lawyer Ross Dow said his client was intoxicated at the time and could not remember making the comments. What does Ross Dow have to say about when his client is not intoxicated and should not do such heinous acts in the same? Defending racism and sexism should be outlawed. There is no excuse and no exemption. As far as we are concerned, an apologist for racism and sexism indicates the person protecting these men, usually White male lawyers, are patriarchal figures/gatekeepers of the broken legal system condoning these men's abhorrently disgusting behaviour.

Our client should have been awarded a sum for compensation far more significant, £10,000, than that which she received and no amount of what appeared to have been chicken feed will rectify this man's verbally assaulting nature. Once the criminal courts start the compensation at £10,000 minimum do you think you will ever see another racist and/or sexist criminal offender do that again? Courts should pilot this sum and see how much money impoverishes these highly offensive societal menaces who are an affront to the global majority around the World. What is your case? Did you have a similar experience?
